RedMo: a live quiz tool that stays free and stays open
RedMo is an independent project from Slovakia, a Stasik Group product. It exists because a good live quiz should not cost a classroom, a team or a pub table anything, and because the people playing should not have to sign up for anything to take part.
It is actively developed, with new question types and features added regularly.
What it is
Two halves of one thing
A builder, where a host writes questions, polls, sliders and slides and puts them in order. And a game, where a room full of people plays that sequence on their own phones while the host runs it from a bigger screen. Every part of it, from the first question to the history of the games you have run, is available to every account.
It is built for anyone who stands in front of a room: teachers and trainers first, but just as much for a workshop, a lecture, a team meeting or a Friday quiz night.
The name
RedMo, spelled R-E-D-M-O
RedMo is the name of this quiz platform, written as one word and found at redmo.xyz. You may also see it as REDMO or Redmo. It has nothing to do with Redmi, Xiaomi's phone brand - if a search for "redmo" sends you to phones, you were looking for this.
Principles
Four things it will not do
It will not ask a player to sign up
A player is a name and a score for the length of one game. There is no account to create, no email to enter, and nothing about them is kept afterwards.
It will not put a feature behind a price
One product, one plan, no upgrade button. What a host can do on day one is what a host can do, full stop.
It will not lock quizzes away
A quiz made public is open to every host on the platform, to preview and to run. The library is the commons, not a storefront.
It will not hide what it does
The terms and the privacy policy are one plain document, and you are asked to accept it before anything else happens. Read it.
The name
Why red
Because a live room should feel live. The whole product is built on one colour and a countdown, and both of them are there to make a question feel like it matters for the twenty seconds it is on screen.
