Terms & privacy

One document, in plain language. Version 1, last updated November 2026.

Summary

This is the short version, and it is not the binding part - the sections below are. Be respectful and do not abuse the service. Students can play without an account and we do not collect their personal data. You own the quizzes you write. We use cookies only to keep you signed in. If we ever change this document in a way that matters, we will ask you to accept it again rather than assuming your silence is agreement.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using RedMo, you agree to this document. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Where we have asked you to accept a specific version, that version is the one that applies to you until you accept a newer one.

2. The service

RedMo is a platform for creating and hosting live quiz games. Public quizzes can also be played alone on a phone, without a host, and each one can keep a board of the best solo results. It is provided as is. We may change or discontinue features, and we will give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.

3. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else is using it. You must be old enough to hold an account under the law where you live, and if you are creating one on behalf of a school or organisation you must be permitted to accept this document for them.

4. Players and student privacy

People can join a game with a PIN and a nickname, without an account and without giving us an email address. We do not ask players for personal information and we do not build profiles of them.

A nickname and the answers given during a game are stored so the game can be scored and so the host can see the results afterwards. Nicknames are visible to everyone in that game, which is worth telling players before they choose one.

A solo run of a public quiz stores the nickname, the score and how long the run took. It appears on that quiz's board only if the player chooses to publish it, and it can be withdrawn later from the same phone or account. A published run, and a challenge link the player shares, show the nickname and score to anyone who opens them. Entries reported by several people are hidden. A report keeps only a one-way code of the reporting connection or account, so each person counts once. Without an account, a phone is recognised only by a random key kept in its browser: we store a one-way hash of it, never anything that names the person. Signing in on that phone moves its runs to the account.

5. What we collect from account holders

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

  • Your email address, used to sign you in and to contact you about the service.
  • Your username, which is shown on the quizzes and games you host.
  • The quizzes, media and folders you create.
  • If you sign in with Google: your Google account identifier, email address, and profile picture. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Basic technical information such as your language preference.

6. Visits and usage

We count visits ourselves, with no third-party analytics service. For each visit we record a random visitor id kept in your browser, the pages viewed and for how long, the type of device, browser and operating system, the country your connection comes from, and a salted hash of your IP address - not the address itself.

We also record what happens in your account: signing up, signing in, creating a quiz, hosting a game, a player joining. We use all of this to see how RedMo is used, to keep it working, and to stop abuse.

7. Cookies and local storage

We store a sign-in token in your browser so you stay signed in between visits, the random visitor id described above, and small preferences such as your chosen language. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Clearing your browser storage signs you out and starts a new visitor id. A phone that plays a quiz solo also keeps a random device key, so its own results can be recognised on the boards.

8. Connected AI assistants

You can connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to your account, so it can build and edit quizzes for you. We store which app you connected, what it is allowed to do, and its access tokens in hashed form. The assistant sends us only what each request needs - the quiz content it writes or reads, or a picture search. We do not receive your conversation with it.

What the assistant does with that content on its side is covered by its own provider's privacy policy. You can disconnect it at any time under Settings > Connect your AI.

9. Who processes your data

We share data only with the services that run RedMo for us, and only what each needs:

  • Render, which hosts our servers and database in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • Cloudflare, which carries traffic to the site and stores the pictures and media in your quizzes.
  • Our email delivery provider, which sends sign-in codes and service messages to your address.
  • Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Pexels, which receives the words of a picture search - nothing about you.

10. Who else can see it

Players in a game you host see your username and the quiz. A quiz you make public can be found and played by anyone. A solo run a player publishes can be seen by anyone who opens that quiz's board. An AI assistant you connect can read and change your quizzes. Beyond that we disclose data only where the law requires us to.

11. How long we keep it

  • Your account, quizzes, media and folders: until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
  • Finished games, including player nicknames and answers: deleted automatically 7 days after the game ends.
  • Solo runs: without an account, deleted automatically 12 months after they are played; with an account, kept until the account is deleted. A run that ends with less than 80% of the questions answered is not kept, and one left unfinished is deleted after a day. Deleting a quiz deletes its board.
  • Visit records: deleted automatically after 13 months.
  • Account activity records: until your account is deleted.
  • Sign-in codes: expire after 10 minutes.
  • AI assistant connections: access tokens expire after one hour; the connection lasts until you disconnect it.

12. Your controls

  • Edit or delete any quiz, folder or picture yourself, at any time.
  • Disconnect any AI assistant under Settings > Connect your AI.
  • Withdraw a solo run from a quiz's board, from the phone or account it was played on.
  • Clear your browser storage to sign out and reset your visitor id.
  • Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account and everything in it at legal@redmo.xyz. We act on requests within one month.

13. Acceptable use

You agree not to use RedMo to:

  • Break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights.
  • Upload or share content that is harmful, hateful, or sexually explicit, or that targets or harasses a person.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, game, or system.
  • Disrupt games you are not hosting, or interfere with the service for others.
  • Scrape or resell the service or its content.

14. Your content

The quizzes and media you create remain yours. You grant us the permission needed to store them and to show them to the players in games you host - nothing beyond that. If you choose to make a quiz public, you are allowing other users to find, play and host it.

You are responsible for having the right to use any image or text you upload.

15. Free and paid use

RedMo is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features, we will say clearly what is included before you pay for anything, and existing free functionality will not be taken away without notice.

16. Ending your account

You can stop using RedMo at any time and ask us to delete your account and its content. We may suspend or close an account that breaks this document, and we will explain why unless we are prevented from doing so.

17. No warranty, and limits on liability

RedMo is provided without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data or lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

18. Changes to this document

We may update this document. When a change is significant, we will raise the version number and ask you to accept the new version before you continue using your account. Minor corrections that do not change your rights or obligations may be made without asking again.
